Favorite LCA moment:
During my first year of teaching at LCA and five months pregnant, my sixth grade History class organized, completely unbeknownst to me, a surprise baby shower, replete with streamers, games, banners, presents, drinks and finger foods. And to make it even funnier (or sneakier), their ruse to keep me away from the classroom while they decorated—they needed my classroom for a sex-ed class taught by Ms. Stevenson (who was in cahoots). I still can’t believe they pulled it all off without my knowledge—it truly was a grand effort. It touched me deeply and I’ll never forget it.
Though now sadly they are rather neglected, it would be old-time fiddling, cycling and birdwatching, though preferably not at the same time. And travel. Being born of English parents, raised in Scotland and then immigrating to America at 10, I have assuredly inherited their travel bug. During my undergrad and grad years, I did not miss any opportunity to travel abroad. It is still one of things that excites me most—traveling to different cultures, getting to experience their way of things, their habits, their paths, vistas.
