Louisville Classical Academy is a secular, private school in the Highlands that provides students with a rigorous education using a classical curriculum.
We are hiring for the 2027-2028 school year.
Science and Mathematics Teacher, grades 6-11
Full-time, beginning August 2027 for the 2027-2028 school year.
Our average class size is eight, and a full load of instruction is 4 or 5 classes per day. There is a unique schedule for classes on Mondays and Fridays.
We are seeking a passionate science teacher who also has well rounded interests in a diversity of subjects.
Principal duties include but are not limited to
- Teaching science to grades 6-11, and mathematics sections as assigned; availability to teach at both the middle school and high school levels is required
- ~22.5 instructional hours with 2.5 hours of supervisory duties per week
- Varying instructional technique from lecture to discussion to laboratory experimentation
- Develop and advance our existing science curriculum to ensure its rigor
- Maintaining classroom discipline while still promoting a love of learning
- Communicating with families concerning student progress and completing student evaluations
Minimum requirements are a Bachelor’s degree in a science- or mathematics-related field, one year of teaching experience, familiarity with independent schools, and the ability to connect with students. Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and the ability and desire to work collaboratively are essential.
Ideal candidates will have a Master of Science and 3+ years teaching experience. Further, willingness to facilitate extracurricular activities are a plus.

Elementary Teacher
Full-time, beginning August 2027 for the 2027-2028 school year.
Our average class size is eight students. The schedule varies slightly each day with significant variation on Fridays.
We are seeking a passionate elementary teacher who also is interested in developing our elementary curriculum.
Principal duties include but are not limited to:
- Teaching a variety of subjects with a strong emphasis on building foundational skills (literacy, number fluency, and eagerness to follow directions).
- ~25 instructional hours per week with ~2.5 hours of supervisory duties
- Varying instructional technique from lecture to call-and-response to educational play and other methods as appropriate
- Engaging students in a rigorous curriculum with strong emphasis on memorization, drills, and a love of structure, including phonics-based literacy instruction
- Maintaining classroom discipline while still promoting a love of learning
- Communicating with families concerning student progress and completing student evaluations
Minimum requirements are a Bachelor’s degree, one year of teaching experience, familiarity with independent schools, and the ability to connect with students. Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and the ability and desire to work collaboratively are essential.

Montessori Preschool Full-Time Assistant Teacher
Full-time, beginning August 2027 for the 2027-2028 school year.
We are seeking a passionate preschool assistant teacher with early childhood preschool teaching experience and Montessori certification or willingness to acquire Montessori certification.
Principal duties include but are not limited to:
- Assisting the lead teacher in a Montessori classroom of 12 students, ages 3-5
- Working closely with the Director of the Preschool and the lead teacher to develop and attain curricular goals
- Varying instructional technique according to the Montessori method
- Maintaining classroom discipline while still promoting a love of learning
- Communicating with families concerning student progress and completing student evaluations
Minimum requirements are strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and the ability and desire to work collaboratively. No Montessori certification is required to apply. We are interviewing candidates with the hope to train them so they are ready to assume a lead teaching position in the following years.
Preferred candidates will have 1+ years teaching experience and an AMS, AMI or MACTE accredited early childhood diploma.
