Preschool

LCA’s preschool uses the Montessori method of early childhood education. Three or four year-old students entering LCA are enrolled in a mixed-age classroom, which they remain in until they complete their kindergarten year. These mixed-age classrooms encourage student leadership and other crucial aspects of social development.

The Montessori approach to early childhood education rests on the following tenets which prepare our students well for their future at LCA.

  • Optimal learning environments

  • Respect for the student

  • Teacher role of observing, preparing, and then introducing educational materials in a timely manner

Our preschool classroom environments are intentionally arranged to be beautiful, orderly, and accessible.

Our teachers curate the educational materials, give lessons on their use, observe the childrens’ use of the materials, and keep the environment clean.

Our students are skillfully nurtured and exposed to educational materials during their sensitive developmental periods. Each student’s interests and readiness are taken into account as they move through the school year.
