Grow with Us

We are enrolling for 2024-25! If you know a curious, creative child who is eager to learn, schedule a tour today to learn more about our unique approach to classical education. We accept applications year round, but enrollment is limited in order to keep our classes small. We encourage interested families to apply early. Please contact us to connect with our admissions team.

Montessori Preschool

LCA is expanding its preschool and welcoming students ages 3-5 to our new Montessori preschool beginning this fall. We were drawn to the Montessori curriculum, with its emphasis on sensory learning, socializing and politeness, practical skills, self-directed learning, and student leadership and believe it fully prepares our youngest students for classical education. As LCA continues to grow, we are always returning to the question, “What is a classical education?” in order to best fulfill our mission. After much consideration, we can confidently say that for our preschool students, the Montessori pedagogy meets our criteria.

About LCA

Louisville Classical Academy is a preschool through eighth grade, secular, independent school founded with the mission of providing a rigorous education to students of all backgrounds and beliefs.

The “Classical” in our name refers to our immersive Latin language curriculum beginning in third grade, our traditional English program (with a strong emphasis on phonics, grammar, spelling, cursive writing, and classical and contemporary literature of an advanced reading level), and our low technology policy. Our small class sizes (an average of eight students per class) allow us to further fulfill our mission by ensuring that all students are active participants in each and every class.

Classical Liberal Arts

Louisville Classical Academy stands in a long tradition of education that reflects the spirit of inquiry of ancient Greece and Rome. Students at LCA learn, in a very literal way, how to participate productively in the “great conversation that began in Athens more than 2,000 years ago and continues today. Essential areas of study in the classical liberal arts and sciences include enduring literature, Latin, advanced science and mathematics, history, fine arts, music, and geography, as well as culturally significant mythology and philosophy.
